Internet Marketing: Three Strategies for Online Sales Success

Internet marketing is about diversity. However, just as you should not “put all your eggs in one basket”, spreading yourself thin is another extreme that is all too easy to reach. Start with two or three strategies and improve on them. After you have a handle on those, then you may consider adding new marketing techniques.

Wherever you go and whatever your “niche” is, you must be able to address a problem with a solution. Some strategies can be applied successfully for marketing virtually any product or service.

3 Essential Internet Marketing Strategies

1. Blog about your niche and business. Blogging is popular as an internet marketing tool for a couple of different reasons. For one, when you update your blog, you can “ping” it to let everyone know you have new information. This keeps your blog out front for everyone to notice. Second, when prospective customers read your blog, they will feel more confident about the services or products you offer simply because you have provided them with relevant information about something they desire. Customers that are drawn to your blog will be drawn to your site as well.

2. Optimize your site for search engine rankings. This is the most important strategy. When people are looking for something to fill their needs, they type a phrase into the search engine and off they go. Research shows that the majority of prospective customers do not go past the first page of search results. Keep your site at the top by providing quality content and keyword density on your site. To stay at the top, update your content frequently.

3. Build an opt-in list. To build up your list, you must offer something visitors will want. Customers will subscribe to newsletters in order to receive free information on something that is relevant to their needs, so be prepared to offer a free report or ebook in exchange for subscribing. Make sure your newsletter is interesting and informative. Don’t just fill it with information about your product. Address the needs of your readers and turn them into customers.
